POSITION OVERVIEW 

As a Consulting Manager, you’ll be an integral part of the consulting team working on client projects. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside our senior leaders by contributing to business development and marketing initiatives to help the business grow further.

YOUR AVERAGE WEEK IN THIS ROLE 

  • With the support of Interchange’s project team, you will support with the end-to-end planning and execution of small-medium scale projects. You will consider scope, budget, time, quality, stakeholders, risks and issues in the planning and executions phases.   
  • Using your expertise in organisational psychology, you will support with Interchange’s discovery process. This process assists our clients in understanding their current cultural state and identifying areas for improvement. You will play a part in engaging with a cross section of a client’s workforce, including interactions at the executive and senior executive levels.   
  • You will focus your business development efforts on securing mid-tier projects with stakeholders at peer level and senior management level (DOA rights of $50K to $300k). You will drive new business efforts to contribute to exceeding the agreed team target. 
  • As part of your business development approach and commercial evaluation process you will work with our consulting and project team to define the scope, approach and outputs new business and projects.  
  • Working with the broader consulting team, you will conduct qualitative and quantitative research in a valid and reliable manner. Your expertise will extend to dissecting data, extracting meaningful and actionable insights, and crafting articulate, well-reasoned reports for our client projects. 
  • Working in partnership with our creative, consulting and project teams, you will contribute to the design of cultural initiatives. Your role involves both supporting the Consulting Directors and Senior Managers to work in tandem with clients to shape the content and outcomes of design workshops, as well as working with the client directly on your own projects. You’ll collaborate with the creative team to translate input into creative concepts, testing and refining ideas with clients as necessary or as directed. Leveraging organisational psychology principles and theories, you will support to strategically design programs aimed at bringing about meaningful change.  
  • You’ll cultivate, strengthen and expand client relationships across all organisational levels, including Executive and Senior Leadership level. You will support in or lead client meetings with project stakeholders and have the opportunity to observe and contribute to high-stake environments with guidance from Interchange senior leaders.  
  • Partnering with the marketing team, you will contribute ideas and develop content for marketing activities including regularly writing articles, blogs and other engaging content.  
  • You will contribute to the development and refinement of Interchange’s services and products.  
  • You will actively seek stretch tasks that deepen your expertise and or widen your experience. You’ll regularly seek feedback, taking it on board to guide your development. You will take up opportunities to learn and make the most of formal learning and development, applying new skills in day-to-day work 
  • Shape how you see the next steps in your professional development and work with your manager to achieve them. Begin to develop your leadership style and skills in such a way that Leaders and SMEs are generally happy to work with you. 
  • Establishing and sustaining relationships with team members by demonstrating a growth mindset, leveraging existing capabilities and experience, and contributing to a positive team culture. Regularly coach junior colleagues to help them build skills and confidence on the job to help them to progress. 

 

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL NEED 

  • Demonstrated experience over a sustained period (5 years minimum) delivering medium – large programs of work or running concurrent smaller projects that reflect the levels of complexity and ambiguity of typical large-scale transformations. 
  • Current experience in organisational culture, organisational development and/or organisational design, preferably in a consulting environment   
  • Sound research and analytical skills. You’ll find patterns in data to extract meaningful insights for our clients. Write impactful cultural reports that explore people trends, leadership styles and organisational themes to provide recommendations that hit the mark.  
  • Experience and success in scoping and delivering projects, including the development of project plans, budgets and project governance.  
  • Proven experience in supporting with or managing all stages of the consulting cycle, from working towards a business target, sourcing new business and securing meetings to writing proposals, scoping, designing and delivering projects. 
  • Outstanding and engaging verbal communication and presentation skills.  
  • Exceptional business and technical writing skill including proposal, tender, content and article writing capability.   
  • Strong interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.  
  • Sound knowledge and experience in instructional design and content development, showcasing the ability to create impactful learning solutions. 
  • The ability to support the growth and development of the Interchange junior consulting team.  
  • Strong facilitation experience, ideally with content relevant or related to organisational culture and/or development across various stakeholder groups. 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION

Bachelor or post graduate qualification in Psychology, Behavioural Science or related discipline 

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

A relevant post graduate tertiary qualification, ideally in Human Resources, Management or Psychology 

Masters in Organisational Psychology
